James Faid February 8th 2003 Hello. I am 3rd dan black belt in zen shorin do karate, and very interested in examining other styles. This site was very interesting. Ive done some study and found that the applications for naifunchin (tekki)are not for striking purposes! The catalogued movements can be effectively utilised to grapple an opponent rather than defent from eg. a punch and a kick simultaneously. Id also like to note the 16th principle of karate. imagine millions of opponents are out to get you?! excuse me, did funakoshi say that? if he did isnt he teaching us to be paranoid?
|
James Murphy February 8th 2003 This is a fantastic site! I'm 2nd Kyu on my way to becoming 1st and eventially Shodan. I've found this site to be extremly useful especially the grading info and terminology - an excellent site! I've studied Shukokai once upon a time too and I must say Shotokan is a much preferred style of Karate for me. Once again this site is very impressive and useful :o)

Rob Gray 3rd Dan April 19th 2003 Hi Tony. Greetings from Norwich, I'd like to reiterate the feelings everyone is relaying about sensei Enoeda. For over twenty years he was my chief instructor, he was a constant within our lives, our loss is Immeasurable, karateka travelled from all over the world to train under him yet myself and others has had the luxury of bringing our students to your dojo to train and grade under him on a regular basis. He was one of the things that makes our organisation so special. best wishes and see you when I'm back. Rob--Fareham and Wickham Shotokan karate club. %Phil#webmaster-okcv@wanadoo.fr#http://okcv.multimania.com#April 24th 2003#Very great an complete web site - Congratulations

anon (1st dan) May 2nd 2003 Sensei Enoda,
It seemed only yesterday I was training with you! You were talking and impressing me with your martial art skills! one minute you are here instructing classes taking gradings!! and the next minute you are gone! I have learned so much from you! you passed me for my 1st dan!!! There is a picture of you on our dojo wall and everytime I look at it I cant believe it was over so soon. You will allways be known as The Tiger!!

Nathan May 10th 2003
My head knows he is gone but my heart tells me he's still there, I realised when he died that he was human after all. I was proud to have been associated with him in my own small way. I may have only made a insignificant impact on karate however karate and Sensei Enoeda have made a massive impact on my life. When I trained at Marshal Street I was always amazed that I was in his presence. I would be in the class and watch him pass by me I never ceased to be in awe of this man. He was truly inspirational he had such a presence the ultimate role model for karate students and human beings everywhere, he was the embodiment of the karate master. I spoke to him only twice or he spoke to me first time was when I passed my shodan. The second time was just before Marshal Street closed he was so encouraging to me and such a nice man. I will never forget him my sympathies and condolences go to his family and friends. Thank you Sensei Enoeda. %Anon###May 12th 2003#The gentleman had a presence that no one could deny. When he walked onto the dojo floor the room became silent in anticipation. I feel humble to have been instructed by the man. The karate world and the KUGB have lost more than a chief instructor and mentor.
Thank you Sensei for your time and patience.

Rod Butler www.karate-london.co.uk/media/html/courses_special.html May 13th 2003 Greetings to all of the Insructors and Students in Portsmouth, Wickham and Fareham.
Rob Gray via Scott Elsdon has kindly suggested that condolence messages on your club website can be added to the Book of Condolence, which will be printed and bound for the family of Sensei Enoeda.
If you would like to view the book or add your thoughts or feelings to it, click on the link above, which should hopefully take you to the online Book of Condolence.
Keep Strong. Best wishes to all.

Stephen F. Krauss May 15th 2003 I had the pleasure of being in London and Liverpool
1966-67 during which time I founded the University of Liverpool Karate Club (KUGB.) I trained with Enoeda Sensei every chance I had. I also enjoyed training with him in the States.
He left a strong impression upon me.
I also have found his Shotokan Advanced Kata series very useful and have recommended it to others.
My condolences to his family and to the members of KUGB.
Best wishes to all.

Saul Caplan June 24th 2003 Many years ago (about 15) I trained at the Salford Shotokan Club with Ged and Gary. I start trained properly again at the time of Sensei Enoeda passing away when I had a sudden urge to start again without knowing of his passing until a few months after. I believe his spirit and motivation is in all of us who have had the opportunity to study Shotokan. I now live in the USA and havent had contact with the KUGB for as long as I haven't trained. Karate is a way of life and always within.

I found this site, while I was googling. I've downloaded the VIDEO's of the katas.

Luke Berryman December 19th 2004 Good site. However where are the pics of Ohta Sensei and why does he not present at your gradings. One other thing Dai means Major and Sho means Minor, not the other way as you have them on your Kata list. Your source must be wrong, check it with Ohta san if you wish.

Ernesto Nelito Sitoe July 6th 2005 I really appreciated your documents.
I live in Mozambique and i learnt a little bit shotokan because here we do not have access to books, it is very difficult to find them.
There is group(A church one that have some links in Brasil) here in mozambique that teach us for free but they do lot of diferent things i see down the internet.
I liked your page and i did not came here(in your page) because perhaps was looking for shotokan history but truely and sincerly i was looking for a free book.
If you could send something if i am not disturbing,i would really appreciate and it would make feel very happy.
Sorry for the English, i speak portuguese.
YOURS FAITHFULLY!
